Buttermilk Cornbread

Recipe Ingredients:
2 eggs - beaten
1 cup cream style corn
1 cup buttermilk
½ cup water
¼ cup shortening melted (you can use oil)
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 cup flour
½ tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup corn meal (white or yellow your pref.)

Preheat oven to 450º put iron skillet in oven with two tablespoons of bacon grease. When you turn it on so skillet and bacon grease will be very hot when you put corn bread mixture into it.(Leave bacon grease in the skillet and be very careful with skillet and grease).
Combine eggs, corn, milk and water. Sift flour, baking powder, soda and sugar; add to milk mixture with corn meal and mix just to moisten. Stir in shortening and pour in greased cast iron skillet turn oven down to 425º and bake for 30 35 minutes until golden brown. You may want to do the old tooth pick trick in the middle. If it comes out clean it is done.
