Strawberry Shortcake

Recipe Ingredients:
1 recipe yellow or white cake (will follow after ingredients)
2 tbsp. Sugar
1 bowl strawberries
1 bowl cool whip

Yellow Cake:
2 1/2 cup all purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 cup butter or margarine
1 3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/4 cup milk

Preparation:
Grease and lightly flour 13x9x2 inch pan. Set pan aside. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl beat butter with electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30seconds. Add sugar and vanilla; beat until well combined. Add eggs, one at a time, beating 1 minute after each addition just until combined. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake at 375 for 30 to 35 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Meanwhile, while cake is baking, cook strawberries and sugar until thick. Allow the cake to cool before spreading on the cool whip, then add strawberry and sugar mixture evenly over top of cake. Store in refrigerator.
